Regenerative braking allows up to 240 kW of power to be recuperated via the electric motors while driving. The Integrated Power Box also contributes to the efficiency of the new Macan models, while also saving weight and space. The innovative and compact Integrated Power Box (IPB) combines three components – the on-board AC charger, the high-voltage heater and the DC/DC converter. There’s a reason the Porsche Macan is Porsche’s best-selling car and, quite frankly, one of the best performance SUVs on the market today. We’d skip the entry-level Macan and opt for the Macan S. It has more power without feeling over-dramatic (like the Macan GTS) and handles superbly well whether it’s being used for a casual school run or being pushed to the limit on the highway.

Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), i.e., an electronically controlled differential lock on the rear axle, also contributes to the traction, driving stability and lateral dynamics of the Macan Turbo. The electric motors draw their energy from a lithium-ion (HV) battery in the underbody, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, of which up to 95 kWh can be actively used. The HV battery is a central component of the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, used by Porsche for the first time in the new Macan. Porsche SE is a holding company with investments in the areas of mobility and industrial technology.

The good news recently is that the four-cylinder boxer engines that left us wanting more have now been joined by 4.0-litre flat sixes in the potent GTS models and the special-edition Spyder and GT4 python exponential cars. The current Porsche model range includes sports cars from the Boxster roadster to their most famous product, the 911. The Cayenne is Porsche’s mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Porsche Taycan

It’s hard to say it looks better, but much of the design is assuredly the result of maximizing aerodynamic efficiency and accommodating the new electric platform that packs batteries under the body. Porsche AG (which stands for Doktor Ingenieur honoris causa Ferdinand Porsche Aktiengesellschaft), as a 100% subsidiary of VW AG, is responsible for the actual production and manufacture of the Porsche automobile line. Porsche currently offers almost 90 different vehicles in various trims and configurations! That number is distributed among a lineup that includes the 718 Cayman, 718 Boxster, 911 (992), Panamera, Macan, Cayenne and all-electric Taycan. Then you also have the extensive options available through its Exclusive Manufaktur program – one that allows customers to create a truly unique vehicle. In the history of motorsport, the Porsche brand is renowned for its victories, pole positions, drivers’ and manufacturer’s championships, and lap records.

Turbo Models

At over $100,000, with a 0-60mph time of four seconds flat and everything you could ever want in a sports car, this 911 delivers almost everything a sports car enthusiast could wish for in a performance machine. The Porsche 911 has a rich racing heritage, and this is what distinguishes it from other sports cars. The 911 has consistently offered unrestrained power throughout its existence, and this is still true with the most recent 911 models.

They have now expanded to produce a considerably wider range of vehicles, though. Initially, the automotive press and Porsche enthusiasts were justifiably horrified that a renowned sports car manufacturer would produce a car that is the complete antithesis of a performance car. Porsche also keeps working on the hybrid prototype Porsche 919 Hybrid, which won the 2015–2017 Le Mans 24-hour races three times in a row.

The 718 Spyder RS sits in its own class with an engine as powerful as the one offered in the Cayman GT4 RS. The biggest difference is the ability to drop the top down so you can hear the sonorous howl of the engine as it redlines at 9,000 RPM, and feel the active aerodynamics of the body push it down hard into the road. The Boxster GTS 4.0 was first introduced in 2021 and remains in the lineup for 2023.

On Thursday, Porsche took the wraps off the Macan EV, a long-delayed project that will test whether consumers still have the drive to spring for an electric vehicle that costs more than $78,000. Presented Thursday in Singapore, the model that starts at €84,100 ($91,593; US pricing starts at $78,800) will test appetite for luxury EVs as consumers grapple with higher borrowing costs and sub-par charging infrastructure. It’s not clear when Apple will officially announce any of its AI enhancements, though we should expect to learn more at the next WWDC, the developer event Apple puts on every summer. Porsche’s Macan is one of the many electric vehicles coming in 2024.

The Macan is Porsche’s next EV project, with an EV variant expected 2024 or 2025. If the Taycan is anything to go by, the Macan EV is only going to consolidate the model’s dominance in the market. The Taycan is powered by a standard 79.2-kWh battery and a rear permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor that makes 402 horsepower, though a 93.4-kWh battery is an option. It increases power to 469 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. 0-to-60-mph is achieved in 5.1 seconds with launch control and top speed is rated at 143 mph.

Ten years after its launch, the Porsche Macan is heading into a bold new direction, now in all-electric form. “Our aim is to offer the sportiest model in its segment with the all-electric Macan. In many ways, we are taking a very successful SUV to a new level,” says Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan. To achieve high efficiency and enable optimal reproducibility of power output, Porsche exclusively uses the latest generation of permanently excited PSM electric motors on the front and rear axles. It is an exceptional sports cars package that is perfect for the daily driving and more spirited runs on weekends. As we’ve become accustomed to over the years, Porsche’s 718 cars are available in both hardtop Cayman and drop-top Boxster guises.

The 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen to the right is more successful, and is a leaps-and-bounds advancement beyond what you’ll find in the gas-only Macan. It is based on Android Automotive, but it does retain Apple CarPlay compatibility. We appreciate the vivid colors, clean layout and menu icons that remain permanently docked on the left side of the screen, including when Apple CarPlay is engaged. Android Auto is unnecessary given the entire infotainment system’s Android underpinnings.
